Family Home Evening

Because Madelynne is only two and a half our FHE lessons are usually short and sweet. We have found The Friend church magazine to be a great resource for gospel lessons that are just that-short and sweet. A couple of weeks ago as we were cleaning up dinner on a Monday night I told Madelynne we needed to hurry, so we could have family home evening. She got really excited and immediately ran and got The Friend magazine and told us, "It's time for family home evening." Then she sat down and picked out an article to read for the lesson. I hope she is always this enthusiastic about family night and learning the gospel.

Two Friends

Whenever Madelynne and Jackson are together Madelynne will say to me, "Look Mommy! Two friends!" I have to admit I love it when she says this. I like most mothers, would love for my children to be best friends. Madelynne loves her baby brother so much and is always very quick to help with the baby. She gets very concerned when Jackson cries and does whatever she can to help comfort him and make him happy again. She is so compassionate and loving. I hope she never loses that. I love my girl and my sweet baby boy!

Jackson at Three Weeks

Since we had to take Jackson into the pediatrician twice in his first week of life he ended up having his two week check at three weeks instead. We are glad to say he is growing and is a healthy little boy. Here are his stats at three weeks old:

Weight: 9 lbs. 12 oz.
Height: 21 5/8 inches
Head: 14 7/8

He is in the 75% in all three categories.

Toilet Training Flunky?

I have decided when we were getting in line for parenting skills in heaven I got in the wrong line and got NO skills for toilet training. In fact I feel like a toilet training flunky. I have tried several times to toilet train Madelynne and all of my attempts have ended badly. So, here I am trying once again and I NEED this to be my success story! If you have any great tips or tricks send them my way...

A Happy Ending

The first week of Jackson's life was a little bit crazy. I had to start supplementing his feedings the day he came home from the hospital because he wasn't getting enough milk from me and didn't wet his diaper for twelve straight hours! So, that first week home we had to take him in to the pediatrician twice to make sure he was gaining weight. Then we had to take Madelynne in because she got Hand, Foot, and Mouth. The poor girl would cry every time she tried to eat due to all the sores in her mouth. She also had a fever of 103 and was really quite miserable. And to top it all off she was getting less attention from me because now she had to share my time with the baby. It was a crazy time and we never would have made it through if my Mom hadn't come to help out. Thanks Mom for everything! We love you!

Flashback Friday

Today I am celebrating the fact that I did not spend my summer on crutches like I did the past TWO summers! Granted last summer's fractured foot was nothing compared to the surgery I had the summer before because I had torn and dislocated a ligament in my foot.

Bringing Home Baby

The Big Sister

This is the first time Madelynne held Jackson. She was a little shy about holding him, but was SO careful. After holding him for a minute she turned to Matt and said, "Daddy can you hold it?" Apparently, she thinks he is big too!

It's Time!

After having a false alarm on Monday night, I went into the doctor for my weekly check on the morning of Tuesday, July 29th. They did an ultrasound to get the estimated fetal weight because the baby was measuring three weeks ahead and the doctor thought the baby was big. They estimated the weight of the baby to be 9 lbs. 2 oz. and the doctor said I needed to be induced that night or I might not be able to deliver the baby. I was scheduled to be induced at 8pm that night.

Here we are getting ready to go to the hospital. Madelynne was so excited to get her stuff together and go have a sleepover at her friend's house. She wasn't as excited when we got there and she found out Matt and I were leaving. There were some tears and finally my friend, Sunny said to me, "Just go! Your heart is not breaking..." I guess that is what happens when you are too cheap to ever get a babysitter!
