Madelynne-isms

A couple weeks ago at the dinner table Madelynne started singing, "You change your mind like a girl changes clothes." Leave it to Madelynne to pick up on the song she heard once on the radio!

The other day while driving in the car Jackson was sitting in his car seat and babbling away. Madelynne turned to him and said, "No Jackson, those are not words!"

My eyes have eggies(pupils).

Madelynne was sitting in her booster seat at the table eating lunch and Jackson crawled up and started trying to "eat" Madelynne's booster seat. (He is nine months old everything goes in his mouth.) Madelynne responded with, "No Jackson, this is not lunch!"

Speaking Madelynne-ese:

tiptoe: pitoe
kangaroo: tangaroo
YMCA: POY (if they can pick random letters why can't she?)
caterpillar: catapillow
Fiona: Finona

Anything in the future is tomorrow. When I go to preschool tomorrow next Fall)...When I am a little mother tomorrow...I am going to be a pink teddy bear(Care Bear) for Halloween tomorrow...

And apparently Madelynne has been reincarnated. She will talk about when she was a little mother or when I was a worm I liked to crawl in the dirt too. Silly girl!

Jackson at Nine Months

Jackson had his nine month well check and here are his stats:
Weight: 20 lbs. 15 oz. 50th percentile
Height: 28 1/8 inches 50th percentile
Head circumference: 18 inches just over the 50th percentile

Grampa Babycakes Comes to Cleveland

Madelynne calls Matt's Dad "Grampa Babycakes". This started when grampa started calling her his Babycakes. Soon after she started calling Matt's parents Grammie and Grampa Babycakes. I love endearments!

During Ron's visit we were able to visit the Bronze Statue Exhibit at Historic Kirtland and attend a baseball game. Matt's family loves baseball and Matt is passing that love onto his children. Madelynne has been talking all winter about going to baseball when the weather gets warm. A few weeks back Matt purchased a baseball glove for Madelynne. I stumbled across this one night when getting ready to put Madelynne to bed. You never know what she will come up with next! This is what Madelynne prefers to catch in her baseball glove-marshmallows. (It is hard to tell in the picture, but the marshmallows are pastel bunnies.)


As we were trying to find our seats at the baseball game Madelynne started crying. She said,"No! I can't sit here. I have to go down there!" She thought since she had her own baseball glove she got to go down on the field and play with "her guys". I adore how her little brain works. Precious!

Madelynne loved having Grampa here and was totally spoiled by him when he bought her two Disney princess shirts from the Disney store. (Something Mommy and Daddy would have never done.)
Thanks for coming to visit Grampa Babycakes. We had a blast!

Madelynne was watching her daddy mow the lawn from the window. She turned to me and said, "Look at Daddy! He is so handsome!" "He is really BIG handsome!" So cute how much she adores her daddy.

M is for Madelynne and Mischief

It has been one of those days! Madelynne has managed to get into tons of mischief today. To name just a few things:

*trying to take prescription medications
*getting into Mommy's sewing supplies and cutting her finger with my rotary cutter
*taking crayons and coloring in her books
*getting into Mommy's makeup and smearing her face with mascara
*completely soaking her clothes and self by purposely dumping her sippy cup
*getting into the 'frig and cupboards multiple times to scrounge for food because one breakfast and one lunch are not enough (poor starving soul)

Now you may wonder where I was when all this was going on? Washing dishes, switching the laundry, making dinner, changing Jackson's diaper and assorted other daily chores. All while suffering from a major chest cold and wheezing. Let us hope we both make it to bedtime in one piece since Matt has a Mutual activity tonight. Wish me luck!

Raspberry Obsession on a Tasty Tuesday

I think it is safe to say my obsession started when I tasted the out of this world homemade raspberry ice cream with dark chocolate raspberry cups from Leo's (located in Pennsylvania). The obsession has only increased as I discovered the yummy recipe below for Raspberry Streusel Muffins. The latest in the obsession would be the Simply Raspberry Lemonade. Can you say addicting?




Raspberry Streusel Muffins
½ cup butter
½ cup sugar
1 large egg
2 cups flour
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
½ cup milk
½ cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup raspberries, fresh or frozen

Streusel Topping:
½ cup flour
½ cup quick oats
½ cup sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter

Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and beat until well blended. Stir dry ingredients together. Stir milk, sour cream, and vanilla into creamed mixture. Pour over dry ingredients and stir just until moist. Fold in raspberries. Pour batter into greased or paper-lined muffins cups. Combine topping ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle crumb mixture over batter. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until tops are golden brown.

Apple Streusel Muffins
Follow recipe for Raspberry Streusel Muffins, but add ½ teaspoon nutmeg and increase cinnamon to 1 teaspoon. Replace raspberries with 1 cup finely diced apples.

Amy Butler Groupie

That is right. You read correctly- Amy Butler! Last Friday I got to meet Amy Butler at a local quilt shop called Stitch Cleveland. She has the most incredible fabric line and patterns. Amy was so down to earth and friendly; talking to us all like we were old friends and showing us her new line of patterns and fabrics. I got her to sign my pattern for her Domestic Goddess apron. Now I am inspired to go sew something!
