Stuck

The other day Madelynne said to me, "Baby brother is stuck. He doesn't want to come. He needs a key!" Now I know I still have NINE days (ugh!) until my due date, but I am so ready to have this baby! I don't remember being this impatient to have Madelynne, but I also wasn't nine months pregnant in the peak of the summer heat! My mom told me I need a project to keep my mind off of it, but I have been working on this project for the last nine months and I am ready to finish it up! And whoever has the key Madelynne says baby brother needs, send it my way!

Showered With Love

Last weekend my friend, Rochelle, threw a baby shower for me, which my friend, Pam, graciously hosted at her home. Since I forgot the camera here are a few pictures of some of the fun things we got for our little boy.

I thought this was a cute idea for a gift. This is my friend's 2am Survival Kit. You know all the things you can't find at two in the morning because you aren't quite awake, but you are sure you have stashed somewhere...

A BIG thank you to all my dear friends who put together the shower and all those who came. It really meant a lot to me. I truly felt "showered with love."

Got Books?

What books are on your nightstand right now? I am taking any and all suggestions of what your favorite reads for Summer 2008 have been. When Madelynne and I do venture out to the library it is more about her and what she wants to read and it is really hard to try to browse for books when she wants to run off and look for books "all on her own" or check out the fish tank or just get lost in the stacks and have me chase her down. So, bring on the recommendations! I need a good read!

Two Bessies

When I was pregnant with Madelynne a friend gave us a Baby Gund Duck Comfy Cozy as a gift. It is the cutest, softest, duck that Madelynne absolutely adores and fondly calls, "Bessie". She has to have her "Bessie" to go to sleep at night. When we found out we were having a boy we decided it was time to find a "Bessie" for baby brother. We finally settled on this snugly lion. The day it came in the mail Madelynne (who thinks she is in charge of opening all the mail) tore open the box and said, "Two Bessies!". She ran to get her own "Bessie" and carried them both around for the rest of the day. We keep reminding her the lion is baby brother's "Bessie", so hopefully she will not get attached!

Hand Me Ups?

Everyone has heard of hand me downs, right? Is there such a thing as hand me ups? If so, Madelynne can't wait to get some hand me up clothes from her baby brother! We have caught her several times in the past few days trying to put on her baby brother's clothes. I can already hear her saying to her brother, "Can you share with my Madelynne?"

The Best Lemonade Ever!

Maybe it is because I am pregnant and have weird cravings (laundry detergent), but I cannot get enough fresh squeezed lemonade. I crave it all the time. And I have to say that by far Chick-fil-a had the BEST lemonade ever! So, I did what any pregnant woman with cravings would do. I went online and found the recipe posted by a manager at Chick-fil-a. I thought I would pass along the recipe because it is just too good not to share. Pucker up and quench your thirst with this one!

Here is the recipe as posted on the web:
2 quarts of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 7 cups of sugar and then add about 9 quarts of water. You should yield a total of 11 quarts. I am not sure exactly how much water we add, we use our quart containers and just add 2 quarts of juice 7 cups of sugar then fill it up to the 11 quart line. I can find out at work tonight. All those other recipes aren't the official CFA recipe, this I guarantee is.***UPDATE*** Yes I have verified, there is 8 quarts of water, not nine. The recipe is nothing special, the key is the freshly squeezed lemons! Just a note, this is the official recipe, not an imitation.

Treasure Hunt

We have been collecting these adorable little Disney princess babies over the past few months. They are so portable and Madelynne absolutely adores them. She spends hours changing the babies' clothes and "slippers". We are on the hunt for the Jasmine baby. She is the only one we do not have in our collection. We have been purchasing them at Target and they are $4.99. When we were in Target yesterday they were clearancing them all out for $3.48, but they only had Sleeping Beauty and Belle left. We never actually saw the Jasmine doll in stock at Target, but we know she exists! So, here is our plea to our friends and family to keep an eye out for baby Jasmine and if you come across her snatch her up for us, so we can complete our collection!
