the flower shop

My friend, Jennifer's family, owns a flower shop.  Last Friday, we went up to the flower shop to pick out some plants for our garden.

Madelynne had fun running around with her friend, Madelynn, picking up all the fallen petals from the flowers.
Jackson, of course, was a maniac and turned into Godzilla as soon as we walked in the center.  He tried to trample all the flowers and was soon banished to his stroller.  He looks thrilled.
His friend, Julia, tried to cheer him up.
Madelynne found a little corner for some solitary time.
The two Madelynnes also found other ways to pass the time.  Little monkeys!

We came home with a wide selection of fruits and vegetables for our garden.  Mommy decided to try some new things this year, so we will see how successful we are with them.  Stay tuned for pictures of our newly planted garden!

madelynne's got a sweet new ride!

Madelynne's dream of a big girl bike came true a couple of weeks ago.  Now, she is constantly wanting to practice riding, so she can ride her bike like her cousin, Eli (with no training wheels).

Madelynne generously passed her trike down to her baby brother.
And this picture pretty much sums up what life with Jackson is like for Mommy.  He knows he is not supposed to go in the street, so he goes as far to the edge as possible and then a little more-pushing the limits.
This is what five minutes of bike riding looks like for Jackson.  When you haven't quite mastered the pedaling thing eventually you just drag the bike where you want to go.  To each his own.
I strongly suspect at this point playing with the bike pump is way more thrilling to Jackson than trying to figure out how to make the pedals work on his bike.

It looks like summer at the Greenway house is gonna be one sweet ride!

are you kiddin' me?

Seriously.  As if the thousands of dollars we pay in taxes are not enough!  Today we got a bill in the mail saying they had to recalculate our city taxes and we still owed money.  Are you ready for this?  We owe the city $.30!  Yes, thirty cents!  Now, I don't care about the thirty cents I will gladly pay the thirty whole cents I owe the city.  What I am totally bugged about is the fact we are being charged a penalty of $19.67 and an interest on top of that of $19.67.  So, for a thirty cents calculation error (in favor of the city) we are supposed to pay $39.34!  What a rip off!!!!!!!  For heaven sakes it cost them more to send us a letter in the mail telling us of our shortage.  Now would the city pay me interest and penalty if they had thirty cents too much?  I think not.  And they wonder why people are fleeing the area?

i'm falling to pieces...

Yes, I managed to do it again.  I broke my right foot when I was literally on my way out the door to my sister's wedding reception.  I was walking across my parents lawn in high heel sandals, trying to keep track of Jackson, not paying enough attention to where I was walking and turned my foot.  The next thing I knew I was on the ground and my foot hurt like crazy.  I picked myself up and made it the reception and actually walked around on it for four and half days before I got it checked.  I now have a nice boot cast that I will be sporting for the next few weeks.  I know just call me a klutz.

a wedding story

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl named Kierstin.  Around the time Kierstin was graduating from high school her sister, Andrea, was getting married.

Andrea married her handsome prince, Alan Bartholomew, and is now four years into living her happily ever after with her husband and adorable baby girl, Emma (15 months old).

At the wedding Kierstin, met Alan's brother, Kent.  She thought he was cute and nice and was kind of crushing on him, but he is a few years older than Kierstin and she was just graduating from high school.  So, fast forward to the summer of 2009.  Kierstin is all grown up and she and Kent start hanging out which leads to dating, and then (you know where this is going right?) engaged and married!  So, in case you didn't catch it; two of my sisters are married to two brothers!  Congratulations Kierstin and Kent!

Do you think we all have the same smile?

caught in the act

My life as I previously knew it is now over.  Jackson has discovered how to climb out of his crib.  Here he is caught in the act.  First he swings one leg up and over the side of the crib.  Then he balances on the top and then proceeds to swing the rest of his body over and drops down.  If is wasn't such a headache to keep him in bed I would venture to say I am impressed with his climbing skills.
Madelynne is convinced he gets out of bed because he wants someone to snuggle.  This is what I found one night after I finally gave up on putting him back in bed every time he got out.  Cute if you aren't totally frustrated!
