In Loving Memory of Our "Great"

Fern R. Hanson 1918 ~ 2010 Fern Martha Rowe Hanson passed away peacefully at her home in Spanish Fork, Utah, Feb. 12, 2010.She was born September 14, 1918, in Scofield, Utah, the ninth child of John William and Barbara Ann Christensen Rowe. She was raised in a home where love and hard work were taught. She attended schools in Castle Gate and Price, Utah, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1936. She was married to Roy Williams Hanson on November 14, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised four children and enjoyed 45 wonderful years together until Roy's passing in December 1985. Their journey together now continues. Throughout her life, Fern was an immaculate homemaker, a wonderful cook, and an excellent seamstress. She provided a safe and loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She loved tending to her flower gardens and enjoyed associating with friends in various literary and bridge clubs. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life including ward Relief Society and Primary President, Stake Relief Society and Primary President and Visiting Teacher. She is survived by her children, Duane (Mary Margaret) Hanson, Cottonwood Heights, Utah; Paula (James) Bailey, Price, Utah; Janis (Max) Johnson, Spanish Fork, Utah; and Melanie (Ronald) Greenway, Carlisle, Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the many relatives and friends who have sustained and supported Fern in recent years and who enabled her to stay in her home. A special thank you is offered to the good people at Aspen Senior Care and Gentle Home Health and Hospice who have lovingly cared for her. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spanish Trails Ward chapel, 90 South Main, Spanish Fork. Friends and family may visit on Friday, February 19, from 6:00 til 7:30 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday, February 20, from 9:45 a.m. til 10:45 a.m. at the church.
