Blessing #13

I rang in the new year with a bang! I had a quadruple dose of infection. Ear, sinus, and upper respiratory infections as well as bronchitis. Of course I waited forever to go to the doctor, so that probably did not help the cause. At any rate I was not functioning at full capacity for almost three weeks. One Monday night, my best friend shows up at my back door with bags of groceries. She was truly the answer to my prayers. This is just one example of the many ways in which my Heavenly Father looks out for me in even the little things. Thanks, Kristen (she is the one on the right in the picture above), for being my guardian angel once again.

Blessing #12

Encircled about in mercy's arms

Neil L. Andersen:
"I have thought of the Lord’s invitation to come unto Him and to spiritually be wrapped in His arms. He said, “Behold, [my arms] of mercy [are] extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me.”1
The scriptures speak of His arms being open,2 extended,3 stretched out,4 and encircling.5 They are described as mighty6 and holy,7 arms of mercy,8 arms of safety,9 arms of love,10 “lengthened out all the day long.”11
We have each felt to some extent these spiritual arms around us. We have felt His forgiveness, His love and comfort. The Lord has said, “I am he [who] comforteth you.”12
The Lord’s desire that we come unto Him and be wrapped in His arms is often an invitation to repent. “Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men, for the arms of mercy are extended towards them, and he saith: Repent, and I will receive you.”13

Blessing #11

...brown paper packages tied up with string. These are a few of my favorite things!

I love getting packages in the mail! Even if it is something I have ordered online and know it is coming in the mail, there is just something delightful in receiving a special delivery from the UPS man. This year because we didn't get to spend Christmas with family, they sent Christmas to us. Thank you so much to everyone who thought of our little family and made our Christmas merry and bright! We love you all even more than we love brown paper packages! :)

Drive thru banking. Love it! It is so much easier to make a "quick" deposit at the bank, if you have the children with you, when you never have to get out of the car! Enough said.

My sisters. I have five sisters who are all so amazing and talented. They are all incredible examples to me. I am lucky to not only call them my sisters, but also my dearest friends. It's good to be a "Borgersen Girl". Love and miss you all!

Blessing #8

Great. That is what we call Matt's grandma. There isn't a word that could better describe her. She is the kind of grandma everybody wants. She always remembers your birthday, is genuinely interested in your life and your family's as well. She also knows all of her almost 50 (she knows the exact number) great grand children's names and birthdays. Did I mention she is 91? She is a riot to talk to and is incredibly generous with her time, love, and resources. We are blessed to have Great in our lives and to be a part of her legacy.

Blessing #6 & 7

My children: Madelynne and Jackson

Oh! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be a mother. These precious children entrusted to me by my loving Heavenly Father are the world to me. They are my life and they make it wonderful. I feel such a great responsibility to raise and rear them in the gospel of Jesus Christ and with all the love and advantages I can possibly give them. I love the quote below by President Gordon B. Hinckley. He expresses all the things I want to say, but have a hard time finding the words.

“Never forget that these little ones are the sons and daughters of God and that yours is a custodial relationship to them, that He was a parent before you were parents and that He has not relinquished His parental rights or interest in these His little ones. … Rear your children in love, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Take care of your little ones. Welcome them into your homes, and nurture and love them with all of your hearts. They may do, in the years that come, some things you would not want them to do, but be patient, be patient. You have not failed as long as you have tried” (“Excerpts from Recent Addresses of President Gordon B. Hinckley,” Ensign, July 1997, 73).

Blessing #5

Willing hearts and helping hands. This is my dear friend, Sunny, and her daughter, Seneca. Lately, we have been funneling money into Matt's car every few weeks. We finally reached a point where there was an end to how much money we could put into his car. However, we aren't ready to give up on it quite yet. So, in steps my friend, Sunny, and her magic fingers, mechanic, husband, Jeremy. Sunny gave up the time with her husband and Jeremy gave up his night off and came and taught Matt how to replace the oil pan on his car. This was truly an answer to my prayers and I can't tell you how blessed I am to have such amazing friends with willing hearts and helping hands! A thousand thank yous and them some!

Blessing #4

Now to some this make look like your standard shower. To me it is nothing short of a miracle! Beautiful brand new tile and faucet handles that actual work without the help of pliers. I am tempted to scrub my shower everyday just so I can admire my new shower. A huge thank you to my wonderful husband and his brother, John! I couldn't have gotten a better surprise!

Good friends, good times.

I am blessed with so many good friends all over the world. Last week I was able to see my friend, Adrianne, for the first time in over two years! We used to work together at the dental school. One of the girls we worked with thought we looked like each other. What do you think?

I have been born of goodly parents...

Not only do I owe them for the gift of my life, but also for raising me and teaching me so many (too numerous to name) life lessons. I am so grateful to be able to call them Mom and Dad. Happy Anniversary! I love you!
